For single- or multiple-tubing-string completions, sliding sleeves are assembled as part of the tubing string to establish communication between the tubing string and the casing annulus.
Among the other applications are
- pressure equalization between an isolated formation and the tubing string
- destroying a well
- Alternate or selective completions direct the flow from the casing to the tubing.
Sliding Sleeves are integral components of most completion strings used to open and close communication between the annular area and tubular area of completed production oil and gas well. Sliding Sleeves are made up of 10 components:
- Upper Sub
- Inner Sleeve
- Ported Connector
- Inner Closing Sleeve
- Bottom Sub
- V-Packing
- Male Back-up Ring
- Female Back-up Ring
- Split Segments
- O-Rings
Two versions of Sliding Sleeves are:
- Shift Up to open version
- Shift Down to open version
